⚠️➡️ Hill Ave One-Way, and 🛺 🛑 Wyo Illegal Off-Road Vehicles

The Wyomissing Fire & Police Committee met on June 3rd. Discussion included making the 1000 block of Hill Avenue one-way, and drafting an ordinance to address the increasing illegal use of off-road vehicles.

In an ongoing discussion about parking availability and traffic safety on Hill Avenue and Reading Avenue, the Wyomissing Fire & Police Committee approved making the 1000 block of Hill Avenue a one-way street.

Issues are arising due to the lack of nearby parking. Subsequently, businesses and residents on and near the 1000 block of Hill Avenue need street parking available on both sides of the street.

The direction of the one-way will be west-to-east. The 1000 block of Hill Avenue will then be accessible to cars from George Avenue.

Urban and suburban areas are seeing an increase of illegal use of off-road vehicles, including all-terrain vehicles (ATVs/four-wheelers) and dirt bikes. Wyomissing is no exception.

Solicitor Michelle Mayfield from Reading presented the Reading city ordinance to the committee and engaged in discussion. Issues include the disposition of unregistered ditched vehicles, which are often stolen.

The Wyomissing Fire & Police Committee moved to draft an ordinance intended to address and deter illegal use of off-road vehicles in Wyomissing.
