Nick Price, Main Street Executive Director at the West Reading Community Revitalization Foundation, and his predecessor in the role, Mark Ratcliffe, attended the June 27th Wyomissing Economic Development Committee meeting.

Nick Price began in the new role at the beginning of 2024. Nick Price and Mark Ratcliffe answered questions from the committee regarding Nick’s transition into the role, recent business and restaurant closings in West Reading, and new businesses and plans anticipated for the near future.

Included in the discussion was the recent acquisition of the Say Cheese! building by the owners of GNA. While a new restaurant will be coming to the space, it has not yet been decided what that restaurant will be.

The committee and Nick and Mark expressed intentions to continue successful economic collaboration between the boroughs. Future possibilities include joint grant applications and other initiatives.

In other updates from the committee meeting, the Berkshire Mall is under an agreement of sale, pending 18 months of due diligence. Some aging infrastructure impacting the mall parking lot may present a barrier.

Wyomissing Mayor Fred Levering also renewed discussion about a Wyomissing station on the Schuylkill River Passenger Rail Authority route. The planned route, which originates in Philadelphia and travels through Phoenixville and Pottstown, is currently slated to terminate in downtown Reading. The committee discussed strategies to further encourage consideration for a Wyomissing stop.

Several businesses in the borough are also renovating, and Primo Hoagies is now open.
