Details: For children ages 4-7. Learn about mindfulness through fun and interactive activities designed to teach children about emotions and using their breath.

Be Present uses stories, games, and arts and crafts to introduce young children to mindfulness. September's workshop theme is Fall. Children will be engaged in activities related to falling leaves, color, and trees.

Be Present's mindfulness educator, Tania Hollos, is a Wyomissing graduate with over 25 years of experience as an educator and has specialized in social and emotional learning for students in grades pre-K to 12th grade throughout her career. Tania has a Master's degree in Education and currently works in schools delivering mental health programs and services to middle and high school students.

Details: The West Reading Farmers Market features the very best in locally grown food every other Sunday in Winter from 10am - 12pm in the 500 Block of Penn Ave + on 6th Ave!

The producer-only market features locally grown fruits and vegetables sustainably raised meats, poultry and farm fresh eggs, fresh cut flowers, artisan baked goods and breads, local beer & wine, kombucha, hand-made pasta, local honey, and value-added products made with locally sourced ingredients. Details: The Battle of the West Reading Karaoke Stars is back. This popular competition raises funds for the West Reading Rec commission and brings out the best & most fun crowd.

Everyone wants to sing and compete for the trophy to help raise funds for the rec commission. Returning host, Enrique of Karaoke with Enrique will ensure you have a good time.

Which of our Stars will take home the trophies & bragging rights? Who will go all out & have costumes to go with their song choices? with this competition, you never know.

*This is a very popular competition so you will want to get there early to register, as we may not have space for all contestants. Rec volunteers will be available for registration at 4pm. If you are looking to practice before the competition, Enrique has his normal Karaoke night every Friday at Craft 2700 @ Frymoyer's 2700 Kutztown Rd. Muhlenberg PA. (It's a full restaurant & bar with great food & drinks) Stop in any Friday & practice, or he Friday before the competition for a special Valentines Day Karaoke. We are sure the Restaurant & bar will have great dinner & drink specials to celebrate the holiday. Karaoke starts at 8pm every Friday. Details: West Reading Borough Council meets on the third Tuesday of every month at 7:00 PM at Borough Hall as well as the fourth Tuesday on an as needed basis. Council meets to review the minutes and recommendations of the several boards, committees and commissions. Council addresses matters brought to its attention by the Borough Manager, as well as matters brought to its attention by the Mayor or members of Council for discussion and/or action. The public is invited and welcome to attend.

Details: Put on your comfortable clothes and sneakers, and come out to our weekly Qigong practice.

Weather permitting, weโ€™ll practice in the patio. In case of inclement weather, weโ€™ll be inside in the spacious community room.

Jay Umble will be our guide in this ancient Asian practice that teaches breathing, mindfulness and movement. There is a $5 class fee.

Details: Join Artist Sarah Miller to explore the beauty of snowscapes! Sarah will lead you through a series of exercises using a variety of materials, including pencil, acrylic paint and oil pastels to explore the winter landscape. Absolutely no experience necessary.

Class is limited to 15 people, and the cost is $20, payable on or before Feb. 18th.

When: Tuesdays, 5:30-6:30pm

Details: Come and read with a therapy dog (or just pet them)! Pick a spot in the Wyomissing Library, grab a book, and hang out with an adorable furry friend.

All ages are welcome! No registration is required.

When children read out loud to dogs, it helps them "by providing a non-judgmental listener and furry friend to read to that wonโ€™t laugh at them if they make a mistake or stumble over a word, but rather lie next to them and enjoy the story being read to them. The children learn to associate reading with being with the dog, and begin to view reading in a positive way."

Details: Led by Linda Zogas. This program will be held in the library's community room.

The cost is $15/class.

When: Fridays, 10:30 - 11am

Details: Mother Goose on the Loose (MGOL) incorporates nursery rhymes, music, and movement to aid in developing social, language & literacy skills, and strengthening bonds between caregiver and child.

It is most beneficial when children experience the program on a weekly basis.

MGOL typically lasts 15-20 minutes and is followed by creative play with puppets, books, and blocks.

For children ages birth to 3 years old. No registration is required.
