West Reading & Wyomissing Hills Pool Hours

As of Monday, August 5th, the hours for West Reading Pool and Wyomissing Hills Pool have changed for the rest of the summer. Open hours are now:

  • West Reading Pool: 12 - 6pm

  • Wyomissing Hills Pool: 12 - 7pm

Wyomissing Pool hours remain 12 - 8pm.

Registration Reminders

Please use this form to register your child for the \A/ Youth Field Hockey Program. This program is offered for students in Grades 1-6. Practices will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings beginning on August 20th until approximately October 3rd. Some weeks, we may have optional Wednesday practices and/or games. This will be determined by field availability and \A/ Junior/Senior High game schedules.

Some practices may start later depending on the Varsity Field Hockey Schedule.

If there is interest, we will be entered in some Play Days that will be held on weekends. Information about this will be forthcoming. We will also be playing in some Wednesday Night games with local schools. Scheduling is still being worked out for these pick up games.

Players will need water, shin guards, a mouth guard, and a field hockey stick. (Some sticks will be available if needed.)

Payment will be $80. Venmo (@Sue-Wojciechowski) or send/drop off a check to Sue Wojciechowski: 4 Tewkesbury Drive, Wyomissing, PA 19610. Checks can be made payable to Wyomissing Field Hockey Booster Club.

Wyomissing Area Soccer Club registration for Little Dribblers and Intramural has been extended till August 18th, with late registration extended till August 31st.

A late fee will be charged to anyone registering between August 18th-31st.

Where: West Reading Playground, rain or shine - grass near the playground, or under the pavilion

When: Saturdays, 9 - 10am

Details: Combine the joys of yoga with the joys of nature as you root down and rise up with the trees, trail your fingers through the grass, and cloud gaze on your back. Join yoga teachers Lisa Frank and Maddie Hertzog for an all-levels, outdoor yoga class. Meet in the grass near the playground at the West Reading park with your mat and water.

Rain or shine! If it rains, we meet under the pavilion.

Suggested donation to The Nest Collaborative: $10

Where: Wyomissing Public Library Patio or Community Room (weather depending)

When: Tuesdays 9 - 10am

Details: Put on your comfortable clothes and sneakers, and come out to our weekly Qigong practice. Weather permitting, we’ll practice in the patio. In case of inclement weather, we’ll be inside in the spacious community room.

Jay Umble will be our guide in this ancient Asian practice that teaches breathing, mindfulness and movement. There is a $5 class fee.

Details: Come and read with a therapy dog (or just pet them)! Pick a spot in the Wyomissing Library, grab a book, and hang out with an adorable furry friend.

All ages are welcome! No registration is required.

When children read out loud to dogs, it helps them "by providing a non-judgmental listener and furry friend to read to that won’t laugh at them if they make a mistake or stumble over a word, but rather lie next to them and enjoy the story being read to them. The children learn to associate reading with being with the dog, and begin to view reading in a positive way."

Details: Due to the weather last week, we had to hit the pause button on our Olympic-themed Moonlight Swim. But fear not, we've rescheduled the event for Tuesday, August 13th!

We'll clear the pool and deck area at 6:30 PM, then let you dive back in from 7:00 to 10:00 PM for an evening of fun, games, laughter, and maybe a few gold medals!

Remember to pre-purchase your bracelets from the pool staff:

  • $3.00 for pool members

  • $5.00 for non-members

Get ready for a night of swimming under the stars, and let's make a splash!

Wednesday, August 14th

When: Wednesdays 10:30am - 12pm

Details: Children will enjoy books, songs, rhymes, and movement activities while building social, language, and literacy skills. All storytimes are followed by a craft to help develop fine motor skills, as well as to reinforce the story themes.

For children age 3 and up. No registration is required.

When: Wednesday August 14th, starts at 6pm

Details: The West Reading Traffic & Infrastructure Committee meets on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at Borough Hall at 6:00 p.m.

The Traffic and Infrastructure Committee reviews and makes recommendations to Council on matters such as traffic safety, flow, control and parking, curbing, sidewalk, storm sewer drainage, sanitary sewer, water, and street lighting.

When: Thursdays, 10:30 - 11:15am

Details: For children of all abilities, ages 3 and up. Join us for floor and table play activities. No registration is necessary.

When: first, third, fifth Thursday, 4:30 - 5:30pm

Details: This program is geared for anyone who wants to play chess. All ages and skill levels are welcome, especially new players. We will have someone from the Million Youth Chess Club organization here to teach!

Youth Chess Club meets on the first, third, and fifth Thursday afternoons of the month from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Join us for some Vinyasa style yoga led by yoga instructor Amy Sharkey. Each class is one hour long. All levels of experience are welcome. This program will be held in the library's community room.

Summer Session costs $108 for 9 weeks (no class on July 5). Drop-ins are welcome. The cost is $15/class.

Details: Mother Goose on the Loose (MGOL) incorporates nursery rhymes, music, and movement to aid in developing social, language & literacy skills, and strengthening bonds between caregiver and child. It is most beneficial when children experience the program on a weekly basis.

MGOL typically lasts 15-20 minutes and is followed by creative play with puppets, books, and blocks.

For children ages birth to 3 years old. No registration is required.
