Registration Reminders

Online registration is open for 2024-2025 WBC Regular Season. Regular registration closes on Wed, Oct 30.

Open to students in grades 1 through 6 that live in the Wyomissing Area School District.

Players will learn skill development in shooting, ball handling, passing, movement and teamwork in a fun and positive environment.

  • 1st and 2nd grade will practice one night a week with one game on Sunday.

  • 3rd and 4th grade will practice 1 night a week with a game on Saturday or Sunday. At this age, coaches may offer a 2nd advanced skills practice as gym schedules allow.

  • 5th and 6th grade typically practice 2 nights a week. Games will vary depending on rec and travel league schedules.

Final practice and games schedules are determined after registration is complete and numbers are finalized.

  • $110 per athlete

  • for households with 2 or more athletes, $10 discount per additional athlete

Fee includes a clinic provided by the Varsity programs, jersey, basketball for grades 1-4, game warm up shirt for grade 5-6.

Parents, please consider volunteering your time to help as a coach, assistant coach or other WBC role. Please indicate your choice when you register. Current school clearances are required for parent volunteers.

The Wyomissing Spartan Grapplers Mat Club is an elementary school level developmental program open to boys and girls in grades 1 through 6 in the district.

The sport of wrestling affords a unique combination of individual and team development and teaches valuable life lessons such as self-assurance, confidence, mutual respect and determination.

The goal of the Wyomissing Spartan Grapplers Mat Club is to learn the basics of wrestling while developing a love for the sport so that your son or daughter continues to wrestle into Junior High, High School and beyond!

Wyomissing Public Library - recruiting Board Members

The Wyomissing Public Library Board of Trustees will have several Board positions available beginning in January 2025. This is a great opportunity to support your community library!

Applicants should be over 18 years old, a resident of the Wyomissing Borough, contribute $100 or more to the Library Association, and be able to attend Board meetings on the 3rd Monday of each month.

Details: For children ages 4-7. Learn about mindfulness through fun and interactive activities designed to teach children about emotions and using their breath.

Be Present uses stories, games, and arts and crafts to introduce young children to mindfulness. September's workshop theme is Fall. Children will be engaged in activities related to falling leaves, color, and trees.

Be Present's mindfulness educator, Tania Hollos, is a Wyomissing graduate with over 25 years of experience as an educator and has specialized in social and emotional learning for students in grades pre-K to 12th grade throughout her career. Tania has a Master's degree in Education and currently works in schools delivering mental health programs and services to middle and high school students.

Details: A civil service commission is an unbiased, independent body that is established by Borough Code where a police force or paid fire apparatus operators are maintained. Overall, the civil service commission is responsible for recruitment and examination of qualified candidates.

Details: West Reading Borough Council meets on the third Tuesday of every month at 7:00 PM at Borough Hall as well as the fourth Tuesday on an as needed basis. Council meets to review the minutes and recommendations of the several boards, committees and commissions. Council addresses matters brought to its attention by the Borough Manager, as well as matters brought to its attention by the Mayor or members of Council for discussion and/or action. Details: Join us for a gentle chair yoga series designed for all levels to enhance well-being. The program will be led by Linda Zogas.

Details: Learn about famous artists and the art techniques they used. Then create your own masterpiece.

The suggested age range is 8-12 years old.

The Artist in You will be led by Sara Miller, who grew up in Wyomissing and has spent countless hours at the Wyomissing Library throughout her life. In addition to reading, she has always loved making things! She studied studio art and art history at Dickinson College, and ultimately became an art teacher. Before having her own children, she taught visual art classes to elementary and middle school students in New York and Pennsylvania. She has always made creating a priority in her own life and is thrilled to share her love of art with the community in this way.

Details: For ages 12-17. Empower your teens through mindfulness! Have your tween/teen join Be Present at the Wyomissing Public Library for a fun,

50-minute, interactive workshop focused on building resiliency. This workshop includes fun and interactive activities and mindfulness exercises to engage the tween or teen mind. This month's workshop focuses on the art of letting go.

Where: Wyomissing Public Library community room

When: Fridays, 9 - 10am

Details: Join us for some Vinyasa style yoga led by yoga instructor Amy Sharkey. Each class is one hour long. All levels of experience are welcome. This program will be held in the library's community room.

Fall Session costs $120 for 10 weeks. Drop-ins are welcome. The cost is $15/class.

Details: Mother Goose on the Loose (MGOL) incorporates nursery rhymes, music, and movement to aid in developing social, language & literacy skills, and strengthening bonds between caregiver and child.

It is most beneficial when children experience the program on a weekly basis.

MGOL typically lasts 15-20 minutes and is followed by creative play with puppets, books, and blocks.

Where: B2 Cafe

When: Sunday October 26th, starts at 8am

Details: Meet up in the parking lot in front of the B2 Cafe for a public art bike 🚴🏾 tour through the city of Reading led by our resident artist, Mike Miller. 

We did a test run and were amazed how much local artwork there is to discover. The ride will be 5+ miles with multiple stops, but still plenty of riding. Depending on the group, we will decide how much territory we want to cover.

Plan on 90 minutes or so. When we arrive back in West Reading, anyone interested in brunch or coffee at B2 can certainly vibe afterwards! Helmets recommended as always.

Details: In partnership with Giant Food Stores, the Wyomissing Public Library will offer FREE flu and COVID vaccines to the public.

The vaccines will be administered by the Giant Pharmacy Mobile Immunization Team, a fully licensed and insured team of Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians. There is no charge for the service.

In addition to the flu and COVID vaccines, people may also request vaccines for shingles or pneumonia.

Vaccines will be available for those who are three years of age and older; it is recommended that children receive their flu shots from their pediatricians.

There is no fee for the service, but those who plan to use it must bring their insurance card with them and fill out the informed consent form which will be available at the library on Oct. 26th.
