School Board Updates
The Wyomissing Area School Board met Monday September 9th. Discussion included:
a new Pennsylvania law establishing observing a moment of silence on September 11th
10 people have applied for crossing guard positions
Act 1 limits the amount school districts can raise taxes
school board makes decisions based on valuation provided to the district by the Pennsylvania Department of Educations, when received
school district is getting $325,000 more from state than budget anticipated
unaudited numbers indicate that the school district has a healthy fund balance with a small surplus due to under-budgeting revenue
board will vote on Pennsylvania School Boards Association (PSBA) delegates slate of candidates at the next meeting
approved participation agreement with the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency for PA Student Teacher Support Program
program to reduce PA teacher shortages by incentivizing student teachers to complete student teaching at a local education agency, through financial support
approved positions for Director of Teaching & Learning and CFO, contract for CFO, and all other personnel matters
