  • Wyomissing borough applied for a state grant in November 2023 to fund a fire department apparatus

    • since the new fire engine purchase order was signed before the grant was awarded last week, those grant funds cannot be used for the new fire engine

    • grant program was supposed to meet in July 2024 to announce recipients

    • $500k grant that was awarded can be used in 3 or 4 years for the needed replacement of the ladder truck or another fire department need

    • no matching funds from the borough

  • Western Berks Ambulance contributions increasing for 2025 in other municipalities - suggested that be considered for Wyomissing as well

    • question from committee: why West Reading not being charged for ambulance services, but Wyomissing is - both boroughs have their own ambulances

  • estimated tripled attendance at the Wyomissing Fire Department Open House this year

    • discuss moving earlier in the day and/or to the weekend to increase participation

  • Kimberton Whole Foods did round-up-at-the-register fundraiser for Wyomissing Fire Department for smoke detectors to install in the community
