A Note from Angela

Hello everyone! I am here with an update on why this newsletter has been absent the past 3 months.

We’ve been experiencing some long-term family emergencies, which worsened severely in November, and have only recently gotten a bit more under control.

Additionally, I decided to restrategize, as I have been increasingly uncomfortable with the communications I have received from some Wyomissing borough council members and employees. I was warned about this possibility when I started the Wire, and I started seeing it happen in August, as described in this post.

I won’t be providing further details about those interactions. I will say I am hopeful that the Wyomissing Borough elections coming up this year can benefit the community, and I will let the community know through the newsletter who has been constructive and supportive.

I will also say I am very disappointed by the mismanagement of the Wyomissing ice skating pond this year, when we as a community could have had many weeks of great skating. However, given the pool opening late last year with no explanation beyond “rain,” I am not surprised.

Given the family emergencies and the complications with the Wyomissing borough, I took the time to focus on my family. This included supporting my son’s teams as an assistant coach for the Wyomissing Area Soccer Club and the Wyomissing Basketball Club, both of which have been very rewarding. I am excited about the future of Wyomissing athletics.

I will be trying to ramp up operations of the Wire again, especially the community calendars and the upcoming agenda items.

Financially supporting the Wire will help me return coverage sooner - please subscribe if you can, and click on the ad above to support the operations. The more people who financially support the Wire, the less divided my attention will be!

Feel free to reply to this email with any questions. I also have an offering to the community below. Thank you for your support.

Free COVID Rapid Tests

As many as you want!

Rapid COVID Test

I have 3,000 COVID rapid tests to distribute - absolutely FREE!

These were offered by the federal government, so I figured I would see if the offer was real. As many of you know, I am immunocompromised and have long COVID (which caused my long-term leg injury). Even having a positive rapid test can help people get care for long COVID, if it’s ever needed.

So I figured I’d see if the offer of free COVID tests was real. If it was, I wanted to be able to offer them to the local community.

And then 7 big boxes of tests showed up on my front porch a week later!

These rapid tests expire in April 2025, but often the expiration date gets extended beyond that. I will keep you updated if this happens.

If you would like tests, reply to this email. We can arrange pick-up or drop-off however it works for you.
